WHAT’S THE WEATHER LIKE IN SEATTLE?
Seattle offers a wide variety of reasons why it is a popular place to live, especially for retirees who are ready to live a vibrant lifestyle during their golden years. The city is known for its iconic Space Needle, as well as numerous open markets where visitors find the freshest seafood. Seattle also is known for something else, which the wildly popular television show Fraiser highlighted throughout its 11-year run.
Seattle is known for its wet climate.
At our assisted senior living center in Everett, Washington, we can confirm that Seattle does experience its fair share of rainy days. However, the reputation that Seattle is a waterlogged city is quite a stretch considering the rainy season unfolds during just one of the four seasons. The overblown reputation of Seattle’s rainy climate begs one question.
What’s the weather like in Seattle?
Seattle’s Weather During Winter
Let’s get the rainy season out of the way.
Although winter in Seattle does not usher in frigid temperatures and raging snowstorms (at least at the lower elevations) the rain is a common part of the days at our assisted living facility in Arlington. If you want to enjoy the great outdoors in Seattle during winter, make sure not to forget your rain gear. Over the three months of winter, Seattle averages nearly 15 inches of rain. However, you do not have to experience harsh weather conditions unless you go into the mountains.
Seattle’s Weather During Spring
Spring is the best time of year to live in Seattle. The sky brightens up considerably, but crowds at the city’s famous festivals and cultural attractions tend to be lighter than during summer. Warmer days and cool nights define the weather in Seattle during spring. The stronger-than-average winds that blow in from the Pacific Ocean during winter’s stormy season die down as well. Swimming might still be too cold for most people.
Seattle’s Weather During Summer
Seattle summers are an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. Temperatures rarely climb above 90 degrees Fahrenheit and on the rare days that the temperature exceeds 90 degrees, the humidity remains low enough to produce relatively comfortable air. An occasional cold front brings a little rain, but summer is considered Seattle’s driest season. The dry season represents the perfect time of year for our residents to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and camping.
Seattle’s Weather During Fall
Fall represents the transition between the dry season of summer and the rainy days that define Seattle in winter. If it does rain, it does not rain all day long during fall, which means you can plan outdoor outings. One of the most popular outings at our assisted living facility in Lynnwood involves taking our residents on a tour of the colorful trees that punctuate the beautiful landscape of the Pacific Northwest.
